Maggie McNamara, the author of the renowned “The First 10LBS: A Roadmap to Better Fitness and Health”, worked for almost 28 years in the television industry. A recipient of the prestigious Emmy award, she excelled as an executive producer in the advertising world, where she raised two children. Juggling the role of a single parent, Maggie worked to balance her responsibilities of work, housework, sports to and from, extra-curricular activities, parent-teacher conferences, supervising book fairs, being a lunch maker, being a homework assistant, and so much more.
Amidst the overwhelming demands of an industry characterized by long working hours, which required 60 hours per week, Maggie worked long and hard to find ways to have time to take care of herself, both physically and mentally. She struggled to lose weight and improve her health for a long time.
After facing the tragic loss of her parents to cancer, Maggie went through a severe mental breakdown, dealing with depression and gaining a lot of weight.
